Daniel Calderwood
Originally from South Africa, I now live and work in Herefordshire. Instinctively drawn to materials that are transformed through extreme heat, I love metals in particular.
While studying BA(Hons.) Artist Blacksmithing I quickly realised, as a group, metals are almost limitless in their application. I endeavour to showcase a material’s distinctive properties, combining and processing them in unique and challenging ways.
As a primarily kinaesthetic learner, I love to experiment and am continually looking for new creative outlets in which to nurture this trait. I rarely know what my work is about when I am making it, or even what the outcome might be on completion, working intuitively, I add and refine until I am satisfied.
